Amazing essential oils to try right now!

I’m sure you’ve heard of the essential oils. There are a lot of them, but I’m only going to talk about some of my favorites. This includes: frankincense, lavender, lemon oil, peppermint, tea tree, Eucalyptus, rosemary oil, and sage oil. Essential oils are good for a variety of things such as digesting, inflammation, stress, sleep, and more.

Frankincense is good for the skin and calming the brain. It helps with inflammation too. Frankincense is sometimes referred to olibanum and it’s active ingredient is alpha pinene. This oil is used in aromatherapy. According to Dr. Axe, “What is Frankincense good for?”, Frankincense can help fight off cancer. When you are stressed out frankincense can also help with that.

Lavender has many uses such as helping with sunburn, relieves stress, heals cuts, relaxes the body, and helps with sleep. Dr. Axe says that lavender also improves your mood. So, if you have a cut, sunburn, or if you’re feeling very stressed out, just take out some lavender.

Another essential oil is lemon oil. Lemon oil works the same as orange oil and bitter orange with the active ingredient being deleminene. It can fight off candida, flush mucus and aid lymphatic drainage, and can be used as a cleaner for the body and home.

Peppermint is one of the best smelling essential oils there is (in my humble opinion). Its active ingredient is menthol. Peppermint relieves pain, tension, and is very energizing. Great afternoon pick-me up! Lavender and peppermint mixed together helps with tension by rubbing it on your temples. Taken internally peppermint aids in digestion.

Tea tree is a go to oil in this house. The active ingredient is melaleuca. Tea tree is antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-parasitic. We use tea tree on the skin for all kinds of rashes and acne. Tea tree can also reduce unpleasant odors.

Eucalyptus oil is a great antiseptic and when inhaled clears sinuses and aids sleep when congested. A must have during cold and flu season! Eucalyptus also can clear the mind and relieve headaches.

One of the essential oils helps with memory, which is quite fascinating. This is called rosemary oil. This essential oil also thickens hair and helps with blood sugar levels.

I very recently got into essential oils and I am now addicted!  I placed a diffuser in the kitchen as this is the main living space and the scent carries into the living room.  In the diffuser, I have been rotating between NYR’s de-stress blend and optimism blend.  We have been having rough times here and we can get all the help we can get! I also like to use the Cleanse blend which gives a nice refreshing clean smell as well as clears the stuffiness in a room.

My husband and daughter came down with bad colds this past week and the oils and diffuser came in handy! I moved the diffuser upstairs and blended lavender with the eucalyptus and it really helped clear their heads enough to get a good night’s sleep.
